A call you can plan, not perform
Many callers tell us they rehearsed what to say for days before picking up the phone. You don't need to. Here's what actually happens.
1. You call 0800 006 008
Toll-free, from any South African network. We answer 7 days a week. You don't need to give your real name.
2. We listen
Your counsellor will introduce themselves, briefly explain confidentiality, and then hand the conversation back to you. There is no script you need to follow.
3. We map the moment together
If it's helpful, we'll use a short, validated screening tool. If you're already in crisis, we slow down and stabilise first — the assessment can wait.
4. We agree a next step
Sometimes that's another call. Sometimes a warm referral to a local clinician or to SADAG. Sometimes it's a single, honest conversation — and that's enough.
